As the launch of JLI’s new “Medicine and Morals” course approaches, enthusiastic endorsements have been pouring in from top lawyers, doctors, professors, and medical ethicists all over the world.
Amongst the several dozen expert endorsers are The Hon. Tevi Troy, Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services; Dr. Alan Kadish, President of Touro College; Paul S. Appelbaum, M.D., Director of the Division of Law, Ethics & Psychiatry at Columbia University; Joel B. Zivot, M.D., FRCPC, Medical Director, Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit for Winnipeg Regional Health Authority; Graham Lipkin, BSc, MBCHB, M.D., FRCP, Clinical Director of Renal Medicine, University of Birmingham Foundation NHS Trust; and Daniel D. Polsby, J.D., Dean and Professor of Law, George Mason University School of Law.
The course, accredited by the American Medical Association, is receiving rave reviews for its superior academic quality, level of professionalism, and the timeliness of the issues it addresses. One medical professional writes, “The course comes at a time where scientific advancements are producing increasing numbers of ethical dilemmas. There is a great need for people to think through these issues and be equipped to make choices. I am delighted that such a course has been developed.” Another comments, “I am very impressed with the topics covered in the course. The class covers some of the most critical issues in law, medicine and religion, and I applaud your efforts to expand learning in this area. Thank you for your fine contributions.”
“Medicine and Morals” is being offered for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit, which enables it to attract a more academic and professional crowd. We are looking forward to reaching new demographics with this course, which hopefully will result in their attendance at future JLI classes as well.
