Yesterday, Monday the 8th of March, over 200 people from around the world embarked on JLI’s annual mission to Eretz Yisroel.
From Canada, South Africa, Brazil, Ukraine and from various places in the U.S. these 200 participants have joined together for a trip of a lifetime. This trip was organized by JLI as a follow-up to their course held this past fall titled “The Land and the Spirit.” This mission brings to life Jewish history, provides insight into the origins of the Talmud and Kabbalah and explores the important places of Eretz Yisroel which are held dear in every Jew’s consciousness.
The First day of the visit opened with a tour of the Roman city of Caesarea. The group continued with a visit to Zichron Yaacov a town known for its picturesque setting, historic city center and of course the famous Carmel-Mizrachi Winery. The group then visited Mount Caramel where they signed into the Hotel Leonardo Plaza in Tiberias where they enjoyed a grand opening dinner officially opening the trip.
Over the next week or so participants will visit the Golan Heights, Safed, Jerusalem, Hebron, Sderot, Kfar Chabad and a host of different sites. They will be integrating into the trip what they have learned in a way only JLI knows how.
Beyond the holy and historical sites to visit, participants will be greeted by important and prominent figures such as the Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Amar and Rabbi Yona Metzger, Knesset Members Uzi Landau, Tzachi Hanegbi, Benny Begin, Natan Sransky and Yoel Hasson and the Mayor of Tiberias Mr. Zohar Oved and the Mayor of Jerusalem Mr. Nir Barkat.
Also participating in the trip is Rabbi Efraim Mintz, the Director of the JLI. The mission is being coordinated by Mabat and Israel Maven touring services and organized by Rabbi Schnuer Weinberg. The visit concludes next Monday with a gala banquet on Sunday night at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, featuring prominent speakers and Rabbis.
