Young Professionals To Experience Rare Candid Discussion with Disney Executive

This weekend, 600 young Jewish professionals from 100 cities worldwide will gather for the largest CYP Encounter yet. Set against the inspiring backdrop of an authentic Crown Heights Shabbos experience, participants aim to connect with peers and strengthen their sense of identity. With a focus on pivotal life choices, relationships, and personal growth, the program features a dynamic lineup of presenters, including Disney’s Senior Vice President, Jim Kapenstein.

For most of their lives, young Jewish professionals grew up in environments that affirmed their Jewish identity—whether through Gan Israel camps, CTeen meetups, or spending time at their Chabad on Campus and childhood communities. Now, living in urban centers and often far from those roots, they are faced with critical decisions about their futures while navigating a world that doesn’t always align with their values.

That’s where the 238 Chabad Young Professionals Shluchim couples come in, creating supportive communities where young adults can find guidance, connection, and inspiration. The Encounter Shabbaton is the culmination of that effort, bringing the global CYP community together to build friendships, strengthen their sense of identity, and recommit to Jewish values.

“Young professionals are at a stage where they are shaping the trajectory of their lives,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Chairman of CYP International. “This weekend offers tools, mentorship, and the reminder that they are part of a global community of peers and Shluchim who understand the challenges they face.”

One of the highlights of the weekend is a series of talks by Jim Kapenstein, who will share how he navigated high-stakes corporate environments while staying committed to Shabbos and his Jewish identity. “Jim’s experience demonstrates that success and integrity to your Yiddishkeit are not mutually exclusive,” says Rabbi Berel Frankel, Director of CYP International at Merkos 302. “Today’s young professionals are looking for role models that showcase how they can thrive in their careers without compromising who they are.”

Jim & Jill Kapenstein

With the mental health crisis affecting so many, young professionals are among the hardest hit, often facing intense workplace demands coupled with acute anxiety and loneliness. Licensed clinical counselor Jill Kapenstein will lead a session exploring the intersection of mental health and spirituality. By combining modern therapeutic tools with Chassidus, Kapenstein will offer guidance on navigating the pressures of modern life, building resilience, and finding inner calm.

Together with her husband, Jim, Jill will also co-lead “How to Juggle Corporate and Jewish Life—Together,” offering practical advice on balancing professional ambition with authentic Jewish observance. From workplace dynamics to prioritizing Shabbos and family, their talks aim to reassure attendees that they can integrate their values into every aspect of their lives.

Reality TV personality Leo Braudy and Rabbi Shais Taub will lead a session titled “What I Wish I Knew.” Braudy will reflect on his experiences in the secular world of relationships and share how the Rebbe’s teachings reshaped his perspective on dating. Together, they will explore how prioritizing shared values and the concept of soulmates can guide the journey toward building a meaningful, lasting Jewish home and family.

Since October 7th, young Jewish professionals have been seen as representatives of the Jewish people and the land of Israel in their workplaces. Author Elisha Perl’s workshop “Make Peace: A Strategic Guide for Achieving Lasting Peace in Israel” equips young professionals with tools to respond with clarity and strength based on the Rebbe’s teachings.

“For many of these young professionals, this weekend is a reminder that they are not navigating life’s challenges alone,” says Rabbi Nissi Lepkivker, Coordinator of CYP Encounters at Merkos 302 “They are part of a global community that supports them, with role models who have walked similar paths and are here to guide and inspire.”
