This year, a growing number of Shluchos will be arriving in New York a day early before the annual Kinus Hashluchos to attend the Wellness Summit—a half-day seminar focused on personal and family well-being.
Organized by Merkos 302’s Shluchim Refuah and JLI’s Wellness Institute, the summit offers Shluchos a chance to engage in meaningful discussions and gain practical tools for nurturing their emotional health while balancing the unique challenges of Shlichus.
Recognizing the importance of attending to their own needs, many Shluchos have prioritized participating. “As Shluchos, we are always in a position to support others. Understanding our own emotional health allows us to better care for our families and communities,” shares Chaya Eilfort, Chabad of Encinitas. “It’s essential for us to be well-equipped to lead with clarity and strength.”
The summit will begin with Staying Connected to Our Source, where veteran Shlucha Chanie Krasnianski of the Upper East Side, NY, will explore how Torah and Chassidus help Shluchos stay grounded during challenging times.
The day will culminate with a roundtable panel discussion featuring Rabbi Binyomin Babad CEO of Relief, Dr. Glenn Hirsch noted Psychiatrist, Dr. Rona Novick Renown Educator and Psychologist, and therapist Devorah Karp LCSW, where real-life scenarios and actionable strategies will be presented for managing personal and family well-being.
Shluchos will also have the opportunity to join small group discussions that provide a space for sharing personal experiences and connecting with others who face similar challenges. These circles will offer a chance to engage in open conversations about personal, family support, and navigating the demands of Shlichus.
Additional sessions include The Foundation of It All: Your Marriage, where Dr. Ari Sytner will discuss strengthening relationships as a foundation for Shalom Bayis; Embracing the Struggle, a Shlucha’s personal journey of resilience through faith; The Full Picture: Building Healthy Family Dynamics, with Dr. Rona Novick offering insights on balancing family life with the demands of Shlichus; and stress management strategies, led by Devorah Karp, LCSW, focusing on managing stress and emotional challenges.
“The Shluchos are the first line of support to so many,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “This summit is designed to equip them with critical tools to ensure their personal well-being and the health of their families, ensuring they have the strength to continue being that source of support to others.”“The Shluchos are the first line of support for so many,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “This summit is designed to provide them with essential tools to maintain their well-being and the health of their families, empowering them to continue being a source of strength for others.”
