Myshliach Chidon Retreat 5783

Hundreds of young Shluchim and Shluchos from around the world came together in Crown Heights last week for the MyShliach Chidon Retreat, an annual event that rewards the hard work and dedication of these young Shluchim. The retreat was a two-day adventure filled with fun activities, delicious food, and uplifting experiences.

“These boys and girls have worked so hard using every free moment to study Sefer Hamitzvos, and they truly deserve this reward,” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, “We hope that the true reward, which is the Torah knowledge they gained will help them in their Shlichus and inspire them to continue with the impressive work.”

The retreat began with a special tour and Maariv at the Rebbe’s House. The following morning started with learning Chassidus, Shachris in 770, and a surprise stop at The Ice Cream house. The young Shluchim then embarked on a trip to the brand new Ferox athletic park, where they received lessons in Parkour and a visit to Area 53 Ropes Course, Roller Skating, and Wall Climbing—the day ended with a Banquet at the JCM, and a surprise show from the world-renowned ventriloquist, Jonathan Gaffner.

The next day began with a visit to the Ohel, where the young Shluchim davened and shared a meaningful, uplifting experience. The day continued with a trip to the American Dream Mall amusement park and ended with a delicious barbecue and the long-awaited Chidon award ceremony.

Shluchim from Downtown Boston, Rabbi Yossi and Shayndel Zaklos expressed their gratitude for the experience, saying, “We’d like to thank the MyShliach staff for an incredible trip! The kids had so much fun, and the experience meant so much to them! For a kid on Shlichus out-of-town, the whole experience goes a long way and gives them such a boost. We are very grateful and appreciate all the work that went into every last detail.”

The MyShliach Boys retreat was made possible through the tireless efforts of head staff Avremel Silberberg, Mordechai Rosenzweig, and director Rabbi Zalmy Weingarten.

The MyShliach Girls Retreat was made possible by the tremendous dedication of head counselors Chassi Mochkin and Shterna Gurary and director Ms. Risa Brikman.

MyShliach at Merkos 302 is led by Rabbi Mendy Shanowitz, Director, and Rabbi Yossi Elberg, Program Director. Rabbi Moshe Schapiro serves as MyShliach’s Chidon Director.
